“I Am Legend” alternate ending

The sci-fi thriller starring Will Smith is available on DVD on March 18, prompting a leak of the alternate ending.
Many on-goers were disappointed by the original ending in the film. After such a depressing yet sporadically action-packed movie, the ending added to the melancholy feeling. With the alternate ending, the alternative made Smith seem more like a “legend”, being that he actually got a chance to test his cure out without being killed.
The movie, based on a book by Richard Matheson, grossed $575 million worldwide.
