How To Install Locks For The Car?

Installing locks on your car is something which should be thought about doing if you are a little unsure of your cars safety when it comes to your locks but you should know that it is actually very hard to install these once your first attempt. You need your pliers and screwdriver to remove your car door panel to get access to your lock properly; if you have a handle on your door which you really should have then you need to take that off also. This is easy to do, take your screwdriver and remove the few screws that keep it secure in your car.

You are going to have some bolts and even an old rod which keeps it in place and you are going to have to remove these to take your handle off; remember to keep the bolts and rod just in case you need to reuse these or have lost your new ones.

Your second step will be to install your new lock; you will find that there are two things that keep your lock secure in your car with a ring and clip. You need to remove this temporarily to put your new lock in but you should think about being very carefully with your snap ring because this keeps your lock in place and secure.

Your last few steps are going to be to fix and assemble your handle; you need to take your old handle and put it back into the same place as where you removed it and secure it back with your clip again. There will be a few screws to replace so make sure they are tightly back in place so make sure that it is because you don’t want that to fall off.

Now you are going to have to replace the panel back onto your door on the inside. If you have someone in the house with you then it would be best to get their help with this part, you are going to need someone to help replace the panel, so they can hold it as you affix it back to the door or vice versa. Before you go driving off in your car or you leaving it in the street then you should think about checking to make sure that the locks are working properly, so keep one door unlocked or open as you tested the door that you have tried to replacing the locks on and see if it is installed OK.

You might find there is a problem but it probably will be with the handle – it could be that it is almost stuff to move it so it could mean that your ring is not properly in place so double check on that.

If you are replacing all of your locks in the car then you are going to have to do these steps for all of your doors and remember to make sure that everything has been put back into place.
