Well dried potato seeds with two buds or “eyes” are planted in well tilled of about 6 to 8 inch depth before planting. Over tilling should be avoided as this may cause sealing off and suffocation of the seeds. These seeds are then planted along furrows at depths of about 2 to 4 inches. Shallow planting although encourages fast sprouting, it can only be done in dry or sandy soils.
